Apple: The Laptop Problem

Does more. Costs less. It’s that simple. This was Apple’s old slogan, but nowadays, it’s quite the opposite. Since Steve Jobs’ death, Apple’s innovation has stagnated, and so has their growth. It is evident that consumers want more than just simple product refreshes. They want incredible product revamps that change the way people see technology. Unfortunately, that’s not happening anytime soon.

For example, from 2010 to 2018, the Macbook Air was using the same chassis, with the only improvements being a new processor. The Macbook Air finally got a new chassis last year, though isn’t much better due to the increased price and controversial butterfly keyboard.

The 15-inch Macbook Pro seemed impressive, with very good specs in a very thin and light package. However, it produces so much heat, the processor inside throttles and reduces performance overall. The price tag is very high as well. It is objectively outclassed by laptops such as the Dell XPS 15. The 13-inch Macbook Pro could be better as discrete graphics, like an MX 150, could greatly boost performance. Still, the 13-inch Macbook Pro lacks these graphics and the price tag is too high to be considered viable. The Razer Blade Stealth 2019 is superior in terms of design, price, and performance.

The Macbook is completely out of the question. Its extremely high starting price and low-power processor makes it the least viable of the Macbooks. There are multiple alternative sub-2 pound laptops that are cheaper, faster, and designed better such as the Microsoft Surface Pro and LG Gram 13.
